In Pennsylvania, a couple is charged with theft and more than $ 100,000 in overdraft, after using money that was accidentally deposited in their bank account.

This was confirmed by the Pennsylvania State Police, as was the case in Montoursville, a small municipality in this US state.

Investigators said Robert and Tiffany Williams had deposited $ 120,000 into their account at BB & T Bank. The move was made this May 31, in principle, by an error of the cashier.

However, instead of contacting the bank for the mistake, the couple spent most of the money. The operations took place from June 3rd to 19th.

What did they buy

According to the authorities, Williams bought an SUV, two four-wheeled vehicles, a mobile home, a trailer, paid various bills, repaired a car and made cash purchases.

In addition, they donated $ 15,000 to friends who needed money.

Once the bank understood her mistake, she transferred an additional $ 120,000 to the appropriate account. The entity then contacted Tiffany Williams on June 20 to inform her that she should repay $ 107,000 in overdraft.

On June 21, the bank called again. The woman said that she and her husband would develop a payment plan.

The court explained how, after these two initial phone calls, the couple had no contact with the bank's representatives despite several attempts to communicate with them.

The couple is now facing charges of theft and serious crimes. While facing charges in court, Robert and Tiffany Wlliams had to pay $ 25,000 as bail to be released.
