A group of tourists visiting the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, in southeastern Iceland, captured on video the detachment of a part of a glacier. They must immediately run to leave the coast before being hit by the big waves generated by the piece of ice.
That's Stephen Mantler, mountain guide of the Háfjall tourism company, who captured the images. According to the Euronews website, he explained that the detachment was "one of the largest and closest we've seen this winter". "This is a good illustration of why we always tell our guests to leave the beach immediately if the glacier falls," he added.
