They find a bottle with a 1926 message in the sea and find the daughter of the one who wrote it

The ship’s captain and experienced diver Jennifer dowker was exploring the bottoms of Michigan’s streams, especially the Cheboygan River, when found a message in a bottle that had been written in 1926. The bottle was at the bottom of the river, because although it kept its cork stopper for 95 years, it was partially filled with water.

Jennifer is the owner of Nautical North Family Adventures and on Friday, June 18, she spent the day cleaning the glass floors of her ship, the Yankee Sunshine, diving while moored in the Cheboygan River. Suddenly he found a bottle with something in it and when he opened it he discovered it was a message written in 1926.

The captain and businesswoman told CNN that the bottle was about 3 meters deep: “At first I thought it was just a cold bottle and then when I picked it up, when it was still under the water, I got to read the word ‘this’ on the paper, it was kind of like… OMG! We found a message in a bottle. Awesome !”

The bottle was two-thirds full with water, but he was able to remove the handwritten note inside to read the message. It was dated November 1926, 95 years ago, and was written this text: “Will the person who finds this bottle return this paper to George Morrow Cheboygan of Michigan, and say where it was found?”

Jennifer Dowker knows the town of Cheboygan and knew the last name Morrows was common there, so she uploaded a post to her company’s Facebook account with the idea that a client would read it and take her to the family of the author of the post: “I thought we were going to find him pretty soon and that would be the end of it. So I forgot because it was late that night… and I went to bed. The next morning , the madness arrived: his message had gone viral and there were over 6,000 people giving clues as to the possible authors of the message.

The captain was worried she wouldn’t have time to investigate so many messages, but she didn’t need to: George Morrow’s daughter Michèle Primeau contacted her directly. She doesn’t use Facebook, but an acquaintance sent her the photo and she quickly recognized her father’s handwriting, even though this note was written 20 years before she was born.

Michele and Jennifer chatted for a long time, getting to know this person better who in 1925 dropped a bottle aimlessly. The girl remembers that at that time, his father would be around 18 years old: “I can see him come out and do this because it was his birthday. I’m not sure, but it looks like something he would have done. He was a very sentimental person.”

Michèle Primeau’s father died in 1995, but this anecdote reminded him of beautiful moments in his life. Jennifer wanted to return the bottle with the message, but Michele insisted that she keep it: “I thought the right thing to do would be to give it to her.
