It was December 1990 when Trina and John Hollander They wrote a note and put it in a bottle before throwing it in the Green River of the house that John had just bought in Calhoun, Kentucky (USA).

The bottle took 30 years and four months to cross the Green River, enter the Ohio River and descend the Mississippi, where it settled and was found last weekend about 25 miles from the original location where she was dumped, at Open Lake., Located. in Lauderdale County, Tennessee.

“My grandparents had a lakefront house that our family still uses,” Pam Stanfield told the portal. Jack Sun. “My daughter, Skylar Mae, and I went on what we call a ‘scavenger hunt’ to see what went aground in the recent flooding. Most of the time it’s a bunch of bullshit, but every once in a while you get something cool. And we got something big“.

Pam came home and said she thought it was a joke her husband was playing on her.

“He insisted it was legit, but I waited until I believed it,” Pam said.

They found the bottle on Friday and Saturday, Pam posted some pictures on her Facebook page and asked if anyone knew “John and Trina” in Calhoun, Ky.

“There is no cell phone service on the lake, so I kept my phone in a certain room at a certain table, and within an hour, I started getting pings indicating that the message was shared and that we may have been in contact with someone “, Pam said.

Less than an hour passed after Pam shared the photos which Trina Hollander confirmed with a comment: “Hi! We are us! We can’t believe it! We remember writing the note and throwing the bottle so many years ago!”

"We wanted to see how far it will go. It's almost Christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho! This bottle was launched from Calhoun Ky 12-21-90 ”, read the message on the bottle (Image reference Pixabay)

“I was getting calls from my son and another friend asking if I had checked Facebook lately, and I hadn’t because we were out with friends on Sunday,” Trina said. “But he told me I had to check it out and I couldn’t believe it when I did.”

Trina said she didn’t immediately recall putting the bottle in Green River, but her husband, John, did.

“We did it in December and he wrote: We wanted to see how far it will go. It’s almost Christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho! This bottle was launched from Calhoun Ky 12-21-90 “Said Trina.

According to Trina, she and John were not yet married. He had just bought the house in Green River and they were working there before they got married.

“We no longer live in this house. We moved around the corner and away from the river a few years ago, but we also loved to go treasure hunting. “Said Trina. “We never had to buy a basketball for our son and his goal for 20 years because we always had balls on the shore.”

“But one day we were there looking at the river and thought it would be great to find a bottle with a message that reached the shore. We never found any, but John said we should send one, and we did“, He said.

John and Trina are still married and will be celebrating their 29th birthday in November, and she said it’s a good story to tell now.

“We made new friends with a lovely family in Tennessee, and we both said we wanted to keep in touch.” Said Trina.

“We’ll never know, but I’d like to know where this entire bottle went from Calhoun, Ky. To Ripley, Tennessee,” said Pam Stanfield. “As far as we know, the flood waters took him to the forest somewhere in Kentucky or Tennessee or even Illinois or Missouri somewhere and he was there for years before another flood does not pick it up and bring it back to the river. “.

“But it was a good thing for our daughter and for me too because I was a child, I spent a lot of time looking for things, but it is definitely one of the best things we have found” , Pam said.
