Officials of the Utah Department of Public Safety (United States) found a mysterious shiny metallic monolith in the middle of the desert, while helping Wildlife Division officers on Wednesday count bighorn sheep in a remote area of the region.
The discovery has been made air, when state agents were in a helicopter and spotted something strange. Upon closer inspection, officials realized that it was a metal monolith who had settled in an isolated area among the reddish rocks.
“One of the biologists is the one who saw it and we just flew over it [] He was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, turn around, turn around!’ And I was like, ‘what?’ So he said, ‘There is one thing over there, you have to go see it!’”, Commented pilot Bret Hutchings to local media.
The authorities subsequently released photographs and videos of their staff marveling at the object, the dimensions of which are estimated between 3 and 3.6 meters high.
In a statement, the Ministry said the location of the monolith will not be disclosed because it is in an area “very distant“and they fear that people will need to be saved if they try to reach the site on their own.
Hutchings added that they even thought the structure was something NASA had put in place. However, when they got closer, they noticed that the monolith apparently had no purpose and they considered that it could have been created by an artist. “It was the strangest thing I have encountered in all my flying years,” concluded the pilot.
However, the institution reminded the citizen that “It is illegal to install structures or works of art without permission on federally administered public lands, regardless of the planet from which they originate.”.
