The first symptoms that appear in patients are dryness and discomfort in the nose coronavirus, according to a team of Spanish scientists. These even appear rather than a loss of smell and taste.

The research, published on the prepress website medRxiv, explains that about 70% of people infected with the coronavirus have experienced a “strange feeling in the nose” and excessive nasal dryness, in the early stages of the disease.

On average, these symptoms lasted for about 12 days and were followed by loss of smell and taste, which was recorded in almost 85% of patients.

These findings are valuable for early detection of infection, especially in people with mild or asymptomatic illness, the researchers said.
