Family members of the patient who died from coronavirus have walked through the hospital door to escape.

Thursday morning, a group of relatives of a coronavirus patient, who died at San Rafael hospital in Magdalena in Colombia, they broke into the medical center and demanded to see their relative. Faced with the refusal of the health workers, they decided to break in and take the body on a stretcher.

These are the remains of Ramón Eliecer Quintero. For biosecurity reasons, only the staff of the establishment could access the establishment where the patient was located.

Determined to take the body anyway, the group attacked the medics. When they fled, they tore the bag from the morgue and stole a stretcher to make it easier for him to move around.

According to information revealed by judicial sources, Quintero’s relatives were suspicious of the doctors’ official version and they also opposed the institution carrying out the transfer of the body. For this reason, they argued that they wanted to bring the remains to the municipality’s judicial mortuary themselves.

However, the police were present at the scene and there was a confrontation with the violent group consisting of more than 10 people. As the minutes passed and when they saw they couldn’t get in, they decided to send the body back to the hospital.

Health officials were appalled by what happened and in a statement rejected the acts of vandalism committed by those close to Quintero. Moreover, they added that they denounced the fact.

“The patient dies in our institution and was transferred respecting all the protocols established in the establishment for the treatment of bodies until their temporary deposit” process that was not accepted by family members that they acted violently, ”reports the text published by the San Rafael hospital.

The people who stole the body announced that they would be holding a complaint against the medical institution for having let a member of his family die. According to his version, the remains were already in a state of decomposition and had not been allowed to enter the day before his death. For the moment, no arrests.
