A large amount of war material was seized on Tuesday afternoon in the cargo area of the Arturo Michelena International Airport of the Venezuelan city of Valencia, located in the north-central region of the country and 150 kilometers from Caracas . The procedure was carried out by members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Integrated System of Tax Administration (Seniat).
The armament had arrived in a cargo plane coming from Miami, in the United States. The Venezuelan authorities consider that the weaponry was intended for groups belonging to the sectors of the opposition that provoked the coup d'etat against President Nicolás Maduro.
According to the Deputy Minister of Prevention and Public Security, Endes Palencia, they seized 19 rifles with their accessories, including 118 carriers; 90 radio antennas and six latest generation mobile phones. The official also said that the war material had entered Venezuela through the carrier 21 Air Cargo and had landed Sunday at the airport in Valencia.
"The GNB and state security agencies are conducting the relevant investigations to locate those responsible for this situation that affects the security and peace of the citizen," Palencia said.
