They kill three policemen in Pailitas, Cesar, arguing with their families

The facts were recorded in a public establishment in the town of Pailitas in César on the evening of Saturday, June 26. Two of the men in uniform died at the site while the third died while being treated at the local hospital.

“Through the modality of the weapons plan, three members of the National Police were assassinated and the wife of one of them was injured in a public establishment in the urban area of ​​the municipality”, the authorities said according to RCN Radio.

The wife of one of the injured men in uniform was pregnant and another woman was injured. The murdered police officers were identified as Hernando Rafael Mercado Figueroa, Jader Martínez López and Leonardo Badillo Hernandez.

Caesar’s government rejected what happened and offered a reward of 50 million pesos for information that makes it easier to capture those responsible.

“It’s unfortunate what happened, the men in uniform in their time of rest received the visit of their sentimental companions, they went out to share in a public place on Saturday evening with their families, when a hired killer is arrived and shot several times, killing three policemen, all actions have already been activated, The army, the police and the prosecution are already present, laying a siege in the mountains, we are in full operation”, Eduardo Esquivel, government secretary of Caesar’s department, told the station.

Investigations have already started and it is expected that early this sunday there is an extraordinary safety council In order to determine what action to take, so far the attack cannot be attributed to any group outside of the law.

Just two weeks ago, the municipal police station was attacked with a cluster grenade. In the fact that it was perpetrated by two subjects on a motorcycle, a policeman was injured.

“The subjects were mobilized on a motorcycle and threw the explosive device at one of the booths. One of the men in uniform who was on duty was injured, but he has already been fired, ”said Carlos Javier Toro, mayor of Pailitas.

Preliminary information indicates that the crime was perpetrated by the Front Camilo Torres of the ELN guerrillas, since this territory receives the scourge of insecurity in the south of Bolívar and Catatumbo, Norte de Santander.

Faced with this scenario, respect for commitments made by the Ministry of Defense at a recent Security Council, where the situation south of Caesar was assessed.

In this sense, the ministry agreed to send eight medium-draft river boats of the National Navy, as well as the increase of the military force, to strengthen the surveillance of the Zapatosa swamp, which was used as a corridor for traffic. of Catatumbo drug. towards the coast.

“We hope that they will fulfill this commitment in order to advance security in the region. The government has invested more than four billion pesos from the security fund for the construction of a military base in El Juncal (Aguachica) which will accommodate more soldiers ”, assured the secretary of the government.
