“They let us get on the plane and in the middle of the flight, they signal that it is forbidden to enter”

They are administrators, monotributists, lawyers and even employees of the justice system. They embarked alone or in pairs. They met just a few days ago, in a heavenly setting of white sand and turquoise sea. Most have saved up over the past year to be able to unplug on the beaches of Mexico. They traveled a short time before or at the same time President Alberto Fernández announced on prohibition flights from this country as well as those from Brazil and Chile. Now they can’t go back. And they don’t know when they will leave them since the official resolution states that the restrictions are for “undetermined time”.

In the photos, they pose funny, showing off their first tans. Some privileged. But they assure that they make an effort not to think that they are blocked nearly 7,000 kilometers from their house. Deep down, they admit that they are worried. And with fear. None are anti-quarantine and they assure that they have been very respectful of all the measures that have been taken due to the pandemic.

“At one point we thought about going to Brazil. But we chose Mexico because there are a lot of them. less cases infected, even compared to Argentina. They allowed us to leave without any problem and they did not warn us nothing. And during the stopover we made in Mexico, we received an email that they had return flight canceled. The truth is, we don’t know how or what we’re going to do, ”said Eduardo López, who, along with Yésica Santillán, boarded the same Friday that the government suspended flights from the Aztec country.

For money, professional obligations or simply to return to their families. The alternatives? Not a lot. Ask airlines to change the ticket they purchased from a country without great restrictions due to the pandemic so that from there we can reach Buenos Aires.

“The easiest thing would be to come back for Uruguay. But in this country there are also restrictions and if they let you in, you have to quarantine yourself and pay the hotel. It is very expensive. Many of us are considering trying to change our ticket to get to Costa Rica. Others also speak of Cuba. Wherever there is no compulsory isolation and flights to Argentina it is obvious we should pay. They are above $ 1,000. No one wants to focus on the fact that we are stuck. Many have just arrived. We prefer to forget to be able to enjoy it. Click on.
