They located a son of Chapo Guzmán in Sinaloa and chaos erupted

The capital of the state of Sinaloa was today the scene of intense shootings and roadblocks at various locations after locating one of the sons of the drug lord Joaquin. El Chapo Guzmán, which triggered a chaotic climate that left an indeterminate number of wounded and a prisoner escaping from a prison in this northwestern Mexico city.

Towards the end of the afternoon, the state government issued a statement in which he urged the residents of Culiacán to remain calm and stay at home until the situation, that he described as "high impact", either totally controlled.

In the night, Alfonso Durazo, Secretary for Security and Citizen Protection, confirmed that the federal forces had located Ovidio Guzmán López a few hours earlier, without specifying however whether he had been arrested or released.

Thirty National Guard and Army officers led a patrol when they were attacked from a house, Durazo said. They repelled the attack, took control of the house and located Guzmán López inside. However, as organized crime groups encircled the home "with greater force" than the official forces, the authorities decided to suspend all operations.

Then a series of shootings and roadblocks erupted in different parts of the city.

Guzmán López is not one of the best known children of El Chapo, but the United States is seeking him for distributing cocaine, methamphetamines and marijuana from Mexico to this country from 2008 to 2018.
