The decision was taken by Judge Ivan Athié, of the Federal Regional Court II of Rio de Janeiro, who determined the freedom of Temer as well as that of former Minister Wellington Moreira Franco, a senior aide to the former president and co-religious party Movimiento. The 78-year-old former president resided at the Superintendency of the federal police in that state.
