This Saturday the result of Olivia Gimeno’s autopsy was announced, the six-year-old girl who had disappeared with Anna, her one-year-old sister, and whose body was found last Thursday on the coast of Tenerife.

As the review revealed, the girl died of acute pulmonary edema, a disease caused by the abnormal buildup of fluid in the lungs.

Olivia’s body appeared a thousand meters deep in a bag with an anchor attached.

The main assumption is that the girls’ father, Tomás Gimeno, is the one who threw the girl into the sea after kidnapping the two little girls. Anna and her father are still missing.

The director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Jesús Vega, explained to The country that the reasons for the edema cannot be established in the report. To check them, they must wait for the results of toxicological, biological and histopathological tests carried out on the girl’s body.

According to the expert, death could be the product of multiple mechanisms such as “suffocation”, “drowning” and even “heart failure or poisoning”.
