They saved the body of a fourth miner in Coahuila

This Sunday, May 6 at 9.20 am, the fourth body of the seven miners who were victims of the flooding of the Múzquiz mine, Coahuila, was rescued., indicated the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare on its Twitter account.

The fourth worker whose body was found was Gonzalo Alberto Cruz Marín, 55, reported the Pasta de Conchos account.

The first body was identified as Mauricio Cortés, 56, followed by Pedro Ramírez, 26, and Humberto Rodríguez, 41.. Cruz Marín had worked in the damaged mine for two years

The National Coordination of Civil Protection reported that the third body of one of the miners trapped inside the Miacarán mine in Múzquiz after its collapse last Friday, was checked out at 11:40 p.m. On Saturday, the second body was found in the mine.

“Work will not be suspended and rescue efforts will continue until the seven people who would work inside the mine are rescued,” were the words with the government of Coahuila after confirming the discovery of a third body by the rescuers who are in the area. The Micarán miner was found around 5:40 a.m., according to a statement from the entity government.

On Saturday, authorities recovered the body of Mauricio Martínez Cortés, the first Mexican miner who did not survive the accident. In addition, yesterday the death of a second minor was confirmed at 11:40 p.m. Three other people remain inside the mine with whom no contact was possible.

According to various versions, the mine is owned by Gerardo Nájera, who apparently does not have a trade name, from the municipality of Sabinas. So far it is known that two miners managed to escape before the collapse, their names are Orlando and Pedro Sánchez, who reported that their companions had been trapped.

Workers from other mines, residents, family members and authorities arrived at the Rancherías mine to help with the work. The Mineral de Rancherías ejido has one of the lowest population rates in the country, with only 597 inhabitants; It is located 15 kilometers from Ciudad Melchor Múzquiz and 6 kilometers from Paláu.

It is characterized by the economic activity of mining, followed by livestock and agriculture. The houses are, for the most part, built at the beginning and in the middle of the 20th century, they have the particularity of being able to be moved by means of steel rollers which are mounted on the bottom.

Conchos Pasta Tragedy

The tragedy stirred the country’s feelings, as it brought back memories of February 19, 2006. When mine 8, from the Pasta de Conchos unit in Coahuila state, exploded due to the build-up of methane gas which increased its effects due to the mine’s safety conditions.

That day, 65 of the 73 workers who worked the shift were trapped, unfortunately only two bodies could be recovered. Reports detailed that the place had reports of security breaches since 2000.

The Human Rights Center Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez stated in its report on the case that “during the last inspection, carried out on July 12, 2004, 43 direct violations of the safety and health standard were found. and 48 measures have been ordered, many of them of extreme urgency. However, the authorities did not ensure that the defects detected were corrected ”.
