The former President of Peru, Alan García, decided to end his life when he was to be arrested by the police, accused of the Odebrecht case.
It's his own daughter, Luciana García Nores, who shared the last words of her father. She decided to read in public the letter she had left before committing suicide.
Garcia committed suicide on Wednesday morning just before the police and the deputy prosecutor of Lava Jato's special team, Henry Amenábar, did not arrest him on a preliminary basis for a period of ten days. According to the health ministry of the said city, he reportedly lost his life at 10:05 (local time) due to mbadive brain hemorrhage due to a bullet impact.
Alan García in the letter, it leaves the rejection of the politicians who intend and "the strategy to criminalize me for 30 years".
He also added: "History is more valuable than any family wealth." He argued that he had himself rejected all alleged bribes that they accused of having received. He added: "The others are sold, not me".
Then the complete letter:
"I fulfilled the mission of leading the apismo to power twice and we again promoted its social strength.I think it was the mission of my existence, rooted in the blood of this movement.
For this reason, and because of the setbacks in power, our opponents have opted for the strategy of criminalizing me for over 30 years. But they never found anything and I beat them again, because they will never find more than their speculations and their frustrations.
In this period of repeated rumors and hatreds, which majorities deem true, I have seen how procedures are used to humiliate or vex and not to find truths.
For many years, I have overcome insults. I defended myself and the homage of my enemies was to argue that Alan García was smart enough not to be able to prove his slanders.
There were no accounts, no bribes, no wealth, history is worth more than any family wealth. There could never be enough price to break my pride of Aprista and Peru. That 's why I have repeated, others are selling, not me.
I have fulfilled my duty in politics and in the work for the people, having achieved the goals that other countries or governments have not achieved, I do not have to accept humiliations. I've seen others handcuffed threatening their miserable existence, but Alan García does not have to suffer these injustices and circuses.
Therefore, I leave my children the dignity of my decisions. To my companions, a sign of pride; and my corpse, as a sign of my contempt for my adversaries, because I have already fulfilled the mission I have set for myself.
May God, to whom I go with dignity, protect people with the heart and the humblest. "
