A terrible upheaval has taken a family in the city of Michoacán, Mexico. They thought they were watching over their mother when they opened the coffin and discovered a man’s body.

The complaint has gone viral on social media where they accuse the funeral home called “ Santa Cruz ” of giving them the wrong body. The 61-year-old woman died of cirrhosis of the liver, so her body was transferred to the funeral home for preparations.

The family said the funeral home asked them not to open the coffin due to current protocols derived from the Covid-19 pandemic.. However, one of the girls opened it to see her mother for the last time and realized that the body did not match that of her loved one.

The corpse came wrapped in sacks and had its face covered, but what those present managed to make out was a man’s face just before moving the coffin to the church, where a religious ceremony would take place.

The case was reported by the niece of the deceased woman and according to TV media. Azteca News, the woman’s body was identified and returned to the correct family.
