The English organization Stonewall is launching a controversial campaign in the United Kingdom. The proposal is to ban the term “mother” and replace it with the expression “parent who gave birth”.
According to the promoters of the initiative, the goal is to achieve inclusion of members of the trans and non-binary community. “Eliminating the word ‘mother’ will help trans men and women, as well as non-binary people, not feel left out,” they said from Stonewall.

The proposal has already sparked controversy, particularly in the more conservative sector of English society, which has been slow to express outrage at seeing the initiative “a parody of basic biology and a hindrance to women’s rights.”
The Stonewall organization has 30 years of experience working for lesbian, gay and bisexual rights across Great Britain. It is one of the largest in the world and has achieved achievements such as marriage and equal adoption, legal protection for trans people and inclusive education.
