Peter Kigen, 32, suffered a decompensation at home and was taken by his brother to the hospital.

There, according to the relative’s testimony, “a nurse said that she had died long before our arrival”.

Hours later, Kigen was taken to the morgue where his body was to be embalmed, but when employees made an incision in his leg, the man woke up, opened his eyes and began to move.

“I didn’t even know where I was when I regained consciousness, but I thank God for saving me. I will serve him for the rest of my life,” he later confessed to local media.

The man was taken back to the hospital and it took three hours for the doctors to stabilize him.

He is currently in good health.

Dr Gilbert Cheruiyot blamed Kigen’s relatives for the incident for asking for the body to be removed from the hospital as quickly as possible without receiving a death certificate. At the same time, he justified the actions of the doctors by saying that on this day, the hospital workers were very busy treating other critical patients.
