The wait is global because this Wednesday, April 10 at 10am, Argentina time, the first will be announced image of a black hole located at the center of the Milky Way. It will be at a conference to be held from Brussels responsible for the European European Observatory (ESO) and the synchronized equipment of the Horizon Event Telescope (EHT).

The world press conference will be broadcast from Brussels and can be viewed simultaneously Washington, Santiago, Chile, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo and Madrid. For Argentina, it will be possible to continue Córdoba in the framework of the international congress of cosmology GRAV19, where will be presented, among others, the recent studies on the Big Bang, the black holes and the theory of the strings.

The objective will be to show a picture of Sagittarius A, the supermbadive black hole located in the center of the Milky Way, a real revolution in astrophysics.

The images that will be unveiled this Wednesday will show the existence of black holes, space predicted by the theory of the general relativity of Albert Einstein and indirectly confirmed by gravitational wave detection, but this could never be observed directly.

Although the predictions of the theory of relativity have been confirmed several times in less intense gravitational fields, it is necessary to see what happens in the conditions that occur at the center of large galaxies. If the observations did not coincide with the predictions, it would be the first crack of the theory of relativity since Einstein formulated it in 1915.

Stephen Hawking, the man who revolutionized physics and everyday life

What's a black hole? It's an infinite region with enough mbad and density to generate a gravitational field from which no particle of material, not even light, can escape.

"While the gravity of a black hole attracts gas and dust, the material stays on a disk in orbit, atoms pushing at an extreme speed. This activity heats the material to red, so X-rays and other high-radiation energy. The most voracious black holes in the universe have discs that eclipse all the stars of their galaxies"explains the EHT team.

The announcement will be broadcast live from the original English version of the Faculty of Mathematics, Astronomy, Physics and Computer Science (FAMAF) and from the Spanish version of Plaza Cielo y Tierra.
