It is no secret that the relations of an area of the clergy with Pope Francis are not exactly easy and relaxed. An eloquent example, in this order of things, is what Cardinal Müller (former prefect of the Holy Office) recently declared, who, according to the broadcast by the press and networks, came to say that the Church now has heretic potato. "
I do not think that a recognized cardinal, like Cardinal Müller, came to say and spread such nonsense. In any event, and whatever the behavior of the former prefect of the Holy Office, the fact is that the resistance of a sector of the clergy to the pontifical government of Francisco becomes more and more evident.
Now, at the approach of the synod of the Amazon, the rejection of those who resist this papacy accentuates. And the most important motive – according to those who understand the question – is the subject of ecclesiastical celibacy. Because, of course, if the law on celibacy ceases to be mandatory for priests who take care of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, why will it continue to force parish priests to l & # 39; Europe?
Celibacy is not a universal law
That's what think and say clerics "anti-Francisco". But what really motivates these priests (and their henchmen) to attack the pope, is the question of celibacy? It is not necessary to be neither a wise man nor a lynx to realize that, in this whole affair, there is a trap. Because the celibacy of the priests is not "a truth to believe with the divine and catholic faith" (can 751). The celibacy of priests is an ecclesiastical law. A law that has never been universal. Catholic clerics of the Church of the East are not obliged. In addition, it was introduced to the West after centuries of lively discussions.
Moreover, in the New Testament, it is said that the ordination of bishops and priests should be administered to married men (1 Tim 3, 2-5, 12, Tit 1, 6), who know how to properly manage their house and their family. Because who does not know how to educate his family in the Faith, how is he going to take care of the Church of God? Moreover, we know that in the Council of Nicaea (year 325), some bishops proposed, according to the historian Socrates, "to introduce a new law in the Church: that the ordained, that is to say, bishops, presbyters and deacons, they did not sleep with their wives with whom they had married a layman "; but Pafnucio, bishop of the Superior of the Thebaid, single and venerable confessor of the faith, intervened against the proposal "and cried with force that this powerful yoke should not be imposed on consecrated men, saying that the act also deserved to Be honored even marriage and immaculate marriage; and that they do not harm the Church by exaggerating the severity; because everyone can not resist the asceticism of "apatheia" and the temperance of their respective wives would not be provided in an equitable manner "(Hist Eccl I, XI PG 67, 101-104) This was said in the first Ecumenical Council of the Church, a few years after the local synod of Granada (Ilíberis) imposed on the married clergy the obligation of continence.
A heretic pope?
It is not a question here of recalling the long and complicated history of celibacy in the Church. What I want (and must) insist is that he has no head or head to describe Pope Francis as a heretic for decisions (which have not yet been made) to which the Synod of Amazon can reach. So, what's behind all this? Without a doubt, spend and erase the image and the way of governing Pope Francis.
Why and why this wear? The most logical thing seems to be that all this unpleasant mess has an obvious purpose: to prepare the conclave, so that the successor of Francisco must take another path. Without a doubt, a pope who humanizes the papacy and brings it closer to those who suffer the most in life, such a pope does not "suit him" (?) Neither in the Church nor in the world in which we live .
