The Renault 4 is one of the most famous cars of its time, for its functionality and design., so much so that it was originally produced in 1970 and this design has been updated for over 20 years. At present, a copy is still in use on the streets of the city of Medellín.

According to information from the portal, the arrival of the Renault 4 in Colombia dates back to 1966, when the “Auto Andes” dealer, which represented the diamond brand in the country, started importing this vehicle from the Fasa-Renault factory in Spain.
At this time the country arrived two versions, conventional car and chassis, the latter being an R4 minivan whose cargo space did not have a body, allowing the owner to customize the body to their liking and needs. The engine that powered these models was that of 747 cm3 then carried by the European R4s.
The birth of Sofasa and the arrival of Renauld 4 took place at the same time, although both were inaugurated in the vehicle assembly plant located in the city of Envigado. This car was therefore the company’s first locally assembled product and, as such, was introduced to Colombians on July 15, 1970.
