This afternoon, a new flight will arrive in Argentina with more than 160 thousand vaccines from the Pfizer laboratory which will speed up the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. By adding this cargo to departures arriving on Saturday and Monday, the country will reach the 63,410,020 doses received since the end of last year.

In this way, at 4:00 p.m. it is scheduled to land at Ezeiza International Airport the flight American Airlines AA991 with the doses produced by the American laboratory and the German company BioNTech. In recent days, around 3 million vaccines have been received: Saturday 1,536,000 and Monday 1,336,000 from the laboratory Sinopharm.

The first batches of Pfizer arrived in the country this month. So far 260,910 doses have been distributed. As reported by the national government in September, a total of 580,000 inoculants will be obtained from this laboratory.

“They are used to initiate vaccination schedules favoring 17 year old adolescents or to supplement vaccination schedules with AstraZeneca”, said the Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti during the conference he led with the new Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, yesterday at Casa Rosada.

Indeed, a few days ago, two different strategies were determined for the same vaccine. According to Vizzotti, between October and December, it is expected that “shipments of the remaining nearly 19.5 million will be completed, including the Pfizer 20 million dose contract signed in August.”

With the arrival of this Wednesday, Argentina will reach 63,410,020 vaccines to immunize the population. Of this total, 17,180,320 are Sputnik V: 10,955,280 of component 1 (of which 1,179,625 were produced by Richmond) and 6,225,040 of component 2 (1,765,875 developed by the Argentine laboratory). From the AstraZeneca firm, the country already has 16,124,500 vaccines among the 580,000 from Covishield, the 1,944,000 received by the Covax mechanism, 12,389,500 provided directly by the laboratory, 400,000 donated by Spain and 811,000 by Mexico. In the meantime, it has received 25,784,000 from the Sinopharm laboratory, 3,500,000 from Moderna donated by the United States, 400,000 from CanSino and 421,200 from Pfizer.
