Thousands of protesters again called for political change in Hong Kong

At a new day of protests, tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Hong Kong today to demand the resignation of the head of government and pro-Beijing leader, Carrie Lam, and of D & ## s 39, a smaller group, the total independence of China.

The protest took place in Sha Tin District and was held in relative calm until the police gave the order to decentralize and that a group of hundreds of protesters refuses to leave the street.

Once again, the police reacted by mbad repression, a decision that caused moments of chaos with protesters throwing objects at the police from the first floor of a nearby mall.

According to organizers, more than 115,000 people demonstrated today, while police estimated that there were about 28,000, reported the local daily South China Morning Post.

In parallel with the demonstration, about 1,000 journalists gathered in front of the Hong Kong Police Headquarters with the slogan "Stop the violence of the police and the defense of freedom of the press".

In recent weeks, "the journalists have been unjustifiably dispersed, pushed, verbally insulted and even beaten with sticks and fired with rubber bullets by the agents," denounced the president of Hong's Association of Journalists. Kong, Chris Yeung.

Last month, the Hong Kong opposition launched a series of street protests that ended up being the most important in the recent history of the region.

The initial request was that the local government of Carrie Lam withdraw from the parliamentary debate a project of extradition of suspected criminals to China and other jurisdictions, which, according to the protesters and the whole of the Opposition could be used for political purposes against dissidents.

Lam finally agreed to withdraw the bill from Parliament, but by then the protests had created a climate of government rejection so intense that the protesters decided to stay in the streets en mbade and demand, not only its complete elimination, but the resignation of the chief.

During one of the most important peaks of popular mobilization and political tension this past month, hundreds of protesters took Parliament, forced the police to flee and left the Hong Kong company in suspense for at least a few hours.
