TIM Brasil increased its profit by 53.2% and announced a new CEO

TIM Brasil realized a net profit of 335 million reais ($ 86.8 million) in the second quarter of 2018, 53.2 percent higher than the indicated figure A year ago.

The quarterly Ebitda was 1,567 million reais ($ 406.2 million), 12.7% higher than a year ago, with a 37.6% margin . Investment expenditures increased 25.8% to R $ 1,018 million ($ 281.8 million).

Revenues increased 5.8% to R $ 4,171 million ($ 1,081.4 million). Billing came mainly from the mobile service, which accounts for 90% of the total. Five percent was generated by the fixed segment and the other five percent is generated by product sales. All three elements showed an improvement in the interannual comparison.

TIM lost seven percent of its mobile base, which consisted of $ 56.5 million as a result of a drop in the prepaid modality that was partially offset by the increase 20.5 percent post-paid. 24.3% of the company's cellular customers are LTEs. The company covers 3,183 cities with this technology, accounting for 92% of the country's urban population. Meanwhile, 1,559 cities have the company's VoLTE

The operator has 423,000 customers for its TIM Live broadband service, up 21.5% from what was recorded one year ago. Its 746,000 fixed lines reported in June are 5.7% higher than those reported in the same previous quarter.

Apart from the numbers, the company announced that Sami Foguel will be his CEO from July 23rd. He will replace Stefano De Angelis who, due to the expiry of his contract, will remain a member of the Board of Directors. The candidate is a graduate in engineering with an MBA from the University of Michigan and has held senior positions in the airlines and HSBC Brazil, among others
