Nail or panda called Shin Shin belonging to Ueno Zoo, located in Tokyo, Japan gave birth to twins on Wednesday. The cubs were born in good condition and their sex has not yet been determined.

Shin Shin mated with Ri Ri in early March. Both were already parents of Xiang Xiang, a panda born in June 2017 and who has become the center of attention at the zoo.

The panda, a vulnerable species

According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), it is estimated that around 1,800 giant pandas remain in the wild, which mainly live in the bamboo forests of the Chinese mountains. At the same time, 600 more live in zoos and breeding centers around the world.

Meanwhile, the International Union for Conservation of Nature classifies giant pandas as “vulnerable.”
