The social network Twitter launched Monday a new feature that allows its users to retweet messages by adding GIF, animated images that are all the rage on the Internet.
"The wait is over", retweeted the network to make the announcement, accompanied by a GIF to illustrate the good news.
The message was posted in response to a user who was asked in January when it would be "day when we can retweet with a GIF comment".
Function "Retweet with comment" Now lets users add an animated image to their shared message from a selection of short clips, illustrating a kiss through approval or surprise.
The announcement was followed by a series of Twitter account retweets showing the possibilities opened by this new feature.
The novelty is particularly aimed at young people. A recent study published by the Pew Research Center showed that the average age of a child "Tweeter" in the United States, it is 40, against 47 in the general population.
Several users however regretted the impossibility of modifying a message already published on Twitter, a feature already present in the largest social network in the world, Facebook.
Twitter has 330 million users worldwide, according to the American company revealed in the presentation of its results for the first quarter of 2019.
