The new tax schedule internal rules for vehicles of mid and high end could still affect sales of units at kilometer zero, which saw a significant drop of 31.7% during the month of May compared to the previous month: according to the Association of Automobile Dealers (ACARA), 22,193 new units were sold to the public, only 4.6% over the same month of the previous year, as Argentina was going through one of its worst times in quarantine.

According to the head of ACARA, Ricardo Salomé, this significant drop in sales matched the restrictions to traffic due to the second wave of Covid-19 infections.

However, in several concessions consulted by Bugle fewer operations due to the smallest spread between the official dollar and the blue dollar.

In this context, the new scales of internal taxes, although they raise the floor from which buyers of vehicles must pay this tax, are getting closer and closer to mid-range models and they have already reached two of the models produced nationally: Volkswagen and Toyota SUVs.

AFIP has established that the first scale, of 20%, will be applicable for vehicles whose the price to the public is over $ 2,900,000. The second scale, 35%, is intended for those who exceed a final price of $ 5,300,000.

The Fiat Cronos would be tax free.

The Fiat Cronos would be excluded from the tax.

In any case, almost all of the local factories have confirmed that they will continue to work on a pricing policy that leaves most of their national models out of the reach of internal taxes. This would be the case with cars like the Fiat Cronos and the Peugeot 208, just like him Chevrolet Cruze, as they have assured in the car manufacturers that produce them.

Pick-ups, recently among the best-selling models, are directly exempt from taxes. And other medium models, such as Peugeot 308, Peugeot 408 and Citroën C4 Lounge to be released this month with increases in their tariffs which would leave them below the limit of three million pesos from which the additional 20% “luxury” tribute begins to be paid.

The national models which, on the other hand, will not escape the tax are the Toyota SW4, taxed since 2014. And now that it is finally on sale, the first scale of internal tax has also been reached Volkswagen Taos, whose list price starts at $ 3,950,000, one million pesos above the floor from which buyers must pay an additional 20%.

There are several models and versions, in particular those imported from Brazil and from outside the Mercosur (extrazone) which are affected by internal taxes, in particular by the first scale which taxes prices above $ 2,900,000. Here are some examples :
