Two students from Comodoro Rivadavia received NASA scholarships

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, the US Embbady in Argentina has awarded scholarships to 50 Argentine high school students to enable them to travel to the Huntsville Space Center , Alabama, and attend the Advanced Space Academy program.

Youth from 17 provinces will participate in the Space Camp, which runs from September 22nd to 27th.

The Advanced Space Academy, led by the US Space and Rocket Center, offers students aged 15-17 the opportunity to explore college readiness and their careers through an immersive science experience , technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM for their singles in English).

Space Camp participants will experience astronaut training through a variety of exercises, technical challenges and team building activities that will result in the simulation of a long-term space mission. Participants will use simulators with gravity chairs and neutral flotation, design and launch a rocket, build a heat shield, among many other learning tasks.

Who are the winners?

For three weeks, the Embbady received nearly 900 applications, 50 of which were selected to participate in the program. During the process, the academic performance, level of English and interest in the science of each candidate were rigorously evaluated.

The Embbady will cover all program expenses including international tickets, accommodation, meals and insurance. Selected students will have a day orientation in the city of Buenos Aires before leaving for the United States.
