United States: A snowstorm has paralyzed airports and more than 3,000 flights have been canceled

More than 4,000 flights were delayed and about 3,000 were canceled in the midst of the snow and rain storm that hit much of the eastern coast of the United States on Wednesday. The regions most affected by the storm were Washington, New York and New Jersey.

At the Washington-Dulles airport, where delays took a little more than an hour on average, there were 79 deferrals and 237 cancellations, while at Ronald Reagan, at the time of the day, there was no delay. Outside the capital, there were 152 delayed flights. and 360 canceled. The same thing happened in Baltimore-Washington, in the state of Maryland, where 228 cancellations and 91 delays were recorded.

According to the FlightAware aeronautical data company, Newark Airport, in the state of New Jersey and serving New York, has suffered delays of about three hours and 55 minutes to arrivals and about 30 minutes to departures. The John F. Kennedy and La Guardia air terminals also reported landing delays of about two hours and 20 minutes.

Local media reported that about 117 million people are alert to weather conditions. Meanwhile, the US National Weather Service (NWS) said on Wednesday that the Heavy rains and winter weather will affect much of the east of the country until Thursday and noted that more snow is expected in the west.
On the east coast and surrounding areas, several inches of snow are expected to begin falling Tuesday night and will remain on Wednesday. According to NWSIt is expected that the storm that will sweep the area will depart this Friday, but it is likely that a new storm brings heavy rain from the southeast.
