SAN FRANCISCO.- A filming in one Transit Control Center in San Jose, California, provoked at least eight dead Yes several injured, as reported by local police, in the latest case of fatal violence stemming from the use of firearms in the United States.

As told to journalists Russell Davis, a Deputy mayor of Santa Clara County, at least eight people were killed in the shooting, including the gunman.

Police rushed to the San Jose light rail facility, a Silicon Valley technology hub of nearly a million people, after receiving reports of a “Active shooter”, as reported on his Twitter account by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office (western US).

It is not yet known whether the assailant was a settlement worker, but police said some of the victims were local employees.

San Jose, a city of nearly a million people, is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, a global hub of tech innovation and home to some of America’s biggest tech companies.

The building where the incident occurred is a control center for the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in the area that also serves as a train depot and maintenance yard. The VTA announced that its employees had been evacuated and that transit services would not be affected.

Several people were receiving medical treatment in the crime zone, San José Mayor Sam Liccardo said. “Our hearts go out to the families of those we lost in this horrific shooting,” he said on his Twitter account.

Police did not immediately give details of how the attacker was killed or the type of weapon used in the crime. Dozens of police cars and fire engines lined the streets near the depot and train platforms.

The United States has a long and painful history of Gun violence, marked by a constant daily number of shootings, as well as high-ranking mass killings that have mainly targeted schools, workplaces and shopping malls.
