The country exports again to the United States after 17 years

Argentina could possibly re-export beef to the United States. After more than three years of opening not yet finalized, the Food Inspection and Safety Service (FSIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture has officially announced that Argentine beef could be sold on this market.

In June 2015, the United States had opened its market after losing a panel before the World Trade Organization (WTO) to delay the opening of this post to Argentina. The country had lost the USA in 2001 for hiding an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. Although the market opened in 2015, due to poor relations with the previous government, the return to meat was slowed down. This country has also imposed different conditions on the current government to accept the reopening.

As the FSIS has announced, the return to the United States for fresh meat will take effect tomorrow. Although the agency did not specify the tonnes, it had negotiated a quota of 20,000 tonnes.
