Unrest at La Cúspide de Naucalpan shopping center: lightning struck the structure and left a crater

Lightning has fallen inside the La Cúspide shopping center, in Naucalpan, State of Mexico. Left electrostatic discharge a hole about 5 meters in diameter who removed the marble tiles and exposed the rods and concrete.

City officials have confirmed that lightning penetrated a tarpaulin that served as a roof, shattered windows and affected some businesses.

The natural phenomenon It happened last Tuesday during the hail. La Cúspide Shopping Center is located in the upper part of Lomas Verdes, in the municipality of Naucalpan, State of Mexico.

Some of the customers walking through the mall around the time of the events managed to take photos and videos of the damage. As soon as the noise was heard, Mall staff observed and cordoned off the area. Minutes later Naucalpan Civil Protection conducted a site inspection and ruled out structural damage.

City officials have clarified that regulations do not require low-rise buildings to have lightning rods. However, some Frequent customers and neighbors consider this to be due to the accumulation of water and hail on the tarps type of sailboat that covers the commercial place.
