It seemed like everything was fine for a Monday flight, until the pbadengers realized that their plane had landed both in the city and in the wrong country.
The British Airways flight from London City Airport was supposed to target Düsseldorf, Germany, but ended in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.
The airline said on Monday that the problem had begun when WDL Aviation, which operates the flight on behalf of British Airways, submitted an incorrect flight plan.
The authorities indicated that the pilot had complied with the flight plan for Edinburgh and that the air traffic personnel had also followed the same plan and had not detected any anomalies.
WDL Aviation stated that it was trying to determine the cause of this "obviously unfortunate confusion".
The flight was refueled and resumed flight, this time to Düsseldorf.
