Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou announced on Monday that From September 1, foreign owners vaccinated with a negative PCR will be able to enter the country. And on November 1, the South American nation will open its borders to anyone who is immune., as long as the evolution of the pandemic allows.

“The Council of Ministers has today defined the following: in terms of borders, from September first it will allow the entry into our country of those who turn out to be owners in our country, who are immune and you are going to need a PCR negative at the time of entry, ”said the Uruguayan president.

And to add: “On November 1, two months later, the opening of the borders will be more important. We are going to have a vaccination above 75%, if people continue to be vaccinated, we will have almost fully administered the third dose, and this November 1 we will allow the entry into our country of all foreigners who are vaccinated and who have negative PCR”.

Three people died on Monday in Uruguay with a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2, after two days without death from this disease, according to the daily report of the National Emergency System (Sinae).

Uruguay remains in the yellow zone of the Harvard index, which accumulates the weekly average of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with a record of 4 and three of the 19 departments are already green: Flores (south), Durazno (center) and Lavalleja (south-east).

Regarding vaccination, and according to the web monitor developed by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) until 6:27 p.m. (9:27 p.m. GMT) this Saturday, 289,441 people have been vaccinated only with the first dose, while 2,307,610 (65.13% of the population) have already completed the vaccination schedule of Chinese pharmaceutical companies Sinovac, Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca and American Pfizer.
