US Confirms Death of Two “High Level” ISIS-K Members in Bombing of Afghanistan | It was in retaliation for Thursday’s double attack

The Pentagon reported on Saturday that the drone it launched in the last few hours over Afghanistan killed the two suspected “high-level” ISIS operatives and injured another. This was said by the Assistant Director of Logistics of the United States Staff, General Hank Taylor, at a press conference.

Until now, the Pentagon had only reported the death of a suspected ISIS member during the US offensive in retaliation for Thursday’s attack at Kabul airport, which was claimed by the same terrorist group and which left dozens of people dead, including 13 American soldiers.

Taylor said there were “no civilian casualties” and said that Washington will continue to conduct operations against IS terrorists “as needed”.

He also clarified that the suspected executed terrorists played the role of “Facilitators” and “planners” ISIS, although he declined to say whether they participated in any way in organizing the attack on Kabul airport or what specific functions they performed.

At the same press conference, Defense Ministry spokesman John Kirby declined to assess the impact of the loss of these two on ISIS’s ability to plan attacks.

“The fact that these two individuals no longer walk on the face of the earth is a good thing.. It’s a good thing for the Afghan people, it’s a good thing for our troops and for our forces at the airport, ”Kirby said.

Asked about it, the spokesman said Washington “did not” share information with the Taliban about the attack.

As the Pentagon reported on Friday, the operation took place in the province of Nangarhar, a mountainous terrain in eastern Afghanistan that is very difficult to control and which has served as a stronghold for the terrorist group since its emergence in Afghanistan in 2015.

The US attack came 24 hours after US President Joe Biden pledged revenge on ISIS and revealed he ordered his commanders to make plans to strike the terror group’s targets in Afghanistan , its leaders and its bases.

The death toll in Thursday’s Kabul bombing has risen to at least 170 dead and 150 injured, Efe sources close to the Taliban in Kabul; while the Pentagon has reported the deaths of 13 American soldiers and 18 wounded.
