The Mexican admitted to having raped the animal but apologized saying that he was under the influence of alcohol and that he had done so because he was "out of it". However, the court sentenced Lopez to three years probation and 60 days in jail, but was released immediately because he had already served that sentence before sentencing.

The spokesperson of ICE, Tanya RománHe added that the agency was planning to transport him to the North West Detention Center, located in Tacoma, Washington State, in order to submit him to a hearing about immigration. . ICE now blames officials at the Multnomah County Jail in Oregon for releasing it without warning the immigration agency.
