A 21-year-old student, who was reported missing on March 29, was found dead in a forested area of ​​Claredon County, South Carolina, US media reports said.

Samantha Josephson was last seen in the early hours of Friday, in front of a Columbia City bar, waiting for a taxi. Josephson was reported missing by her friends, who contacted the police because the girl never came to her home.

According to the investigation, the girl did not board the vehicle she had ordered, but another, a black Chevrolet Impala from a stranger. Later in the day, Samantha's body was found in a rural area by hunters.

On Saturday, at dawn, a police car identified a black Impala in the middle of the road and stopped it. When the driver was asked to exit the vehicle, he escaped on foot, but was arrested and identified as Nathaniel David Rowland.

A large amount of blood was found inside the car and the victim's phone was found at the suspect's home. Rowland, 24, was charged with kidnapping and murder.

Samantha's father confirmed the news of his death via Facebook and expressed his grief over the loss. "It is extremely difficult to write this and publish it," he said.

The Town Hall of Robbinsville (New Jersey), where Samantha's family resides, spoke out about it and offered his condolences on social networks: "It's beyond our ability to understand."
