Cardinal George Pell, one of the most powerful men in the Roman Catholic Church, has been convicted of multiple bad crimes with children in a secret trial held in Australia in December and revealed today.
The cardinal is 77 years old and could go to jail after a jury has found him. guilty of badually abusing two boys from the altar in the sacristy of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne in the 1990s.
Pell currently holds the post of Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy of the Holy See and, as noted by CNN, is the highest Catholic leader to have been convicted of bad crimes against children.
Only a few months ago, Pope Francis praised him for his honesty and his response to crimes of child badual abuse.
