Vatican number three received a delegation from Juan Guaidó in Rome – 11/02/2019

The Vatican stressed the need to find a "just and peaceful" solution to the Venezuelan crisis, receiving this Monday his "Number Three" to a delegation from that country sent by Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself President of Venezuela on 23 January.

The delegation, which will be received this afternoon by the Vice-President of the Italian Government, Matteo Salvini, is composed of Francisco Sucre, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly (whose president is Guaidó), Rodrigo Diamanti, his representative in Europe Humanitarian Aid, MP Gabriel Gallo and the former Mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma.

The Venezuelan delegation was sent to Rome to try to obtain recognition from Italy, one of the few countries in the European Union not to recognize Mr. Guaidó as interim president of Venezuela, after Nicolás Maduro refused to call new presidential elections after the questionnaires of May 2018.
