The biologist Michael Grundler has managed to capture, with his team of researchers, a tarantula of the order Mygalomorphae attacking and devouring a young opusum, a close relative of the opossum, in the Peruvian Amazon.

Researchers have observed the interaction between predators and prey of this ecosystem for many years and, according to the study published in Amphibian magazine & Reptile Conservation, the Amazon is not a very place calm for the smaller vertebrates. The most curious is that research indicates that most lizards, mice or opossums are not victims of large predators, on the contrary, they die of spiders and centipedes.

"At first he started, but in just 30 seconds, he stopped moving." The biologist Michael Grundler describes in this raw way the last moments of an opusum chased by a tarantula the size of a plate. The scene took place in Amazonia and it is the first time that we observe it.

An expert in opposites of the American Museum of Natural History said, later, that the video shows the first case of a spider of this type attacking an opossum and devouring it.

This disturbing video is part of a comprehensive field study conducted by Grundler and his team in the Amazon rainforest.

Apparently, the Amazon is still, in many ways, a beautiful but dangerous place, its landscape is like the siren song, we can succumb to its beauty, but basically, if we do not pay attention, terrible things we wait.
