The atmospheric radar systems captured this Friday the moment when a meteorite hit the Cuban province of Pinar del Río, more precisely in the valley of Viñales, considered a natural heritage of humanity by Unesco.

The device that recorded the fall in infrared images is owned by the Cooperative Institute for Atmospheric Research at Colorado State University (USA). Witnesses of the meteorite's death described the impact on the Earth as two large explosions that broke the windows of neighboring buildings and even rattled the houses.

The neighbors of the area were eager to pick up in social networks many photos and videos of the footprint that left the object in the sky, as well as the black stones, about seven centimeters, which would have been found in Viñales after the fall of the meteorite.

Up to now, six meteorite falls have been recorded in Cuba, the latest of which in 2001, cited a source at the State Institute of Geophysics and Astronomy of Cuba.
