A.- On Thursday, Pope Francis visited a prison in the town of Velletri, south of Rome, where he presided over Mbad for Holy Week celebrations. In the religious act, the pope washed and kissed the feet of 12 inmates, the Vatican said referring to RT.
By this action, the pontiff commemorated the gesture of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper, as an act of humility. According to the statement, this is the fifth time that Francisco celebrates the same Holy Thursday in a prison.
This action involved nine Italian prisoners, a Brazilian, an Ivorian and a Moroccan. Velletri Prison is a medium-security center that houses 557 people, of which 60% of the prison population is foreign.
