This Monday, March 15, Valentina Cano, a 24-year-old woman, was the victim of sexual harassment in the Medellín metro, as reported by social networks. The victim assured that while she went to visit her hospitalized husband in a clinic in the city, she was involved in an uncomfortable situation. The man took the opportunity to harass her, on the way, Caro felt that a hand had touched her private parts twice.
“At that point, when I felt my vagina being touched, I sent my hand to remove it as best I could and didn’t see who it was. I went back and took my bag, when they came back and hit me, but harder; I took my hand and I touched and I grabbed his hand, I lifted it up to see who he was and indeed I saw that he was that boy, that’s where I was. decided to make a fuss, ”says Valentina.
Given the situation, the woman took out the cell phone to register the man and that there was evidence of what had happened, by the time the riders in the metro decided to support her. and not to let the stalker escape the authorities.
“I immediately made a fuss, another girl said she had to be moved away on her side because she was doing the same thing,” added the young woman who was assaulted.
“When the train stopped, they started knocking on the door and they pushed him outside and he was going to fly away; he almost ran away, he ran, and people started shouting to be caught and already above that there was a policeman, it was he who caught him, ”described the young woman.
The citizens who were in the young woman’s path helped the authorities to capture the assailant and handed him over to the metro police. Authorities received the complaint and arrested the man who claimed the woman was lying.
For his part, Major Stella Sotelo, commander of the metro police, explained how the events unfolded and the participation of the authorities. “They keep stopping at the metro station and handing it over to the police units; which is left at the disposal of the competent authorities ”.
The Medellín Metro also spoke out against this fact and stated that,“We officially reject the fact, we urge our users to maintain the Metro culture and report these events to the authorities.”
