Video: Woman arrested after swearing and coughing on Uber driver in California who asked her to wear the mask

Woman filmed harassing and coughing Uber driver in California arrestedwhile another woman plans to turn herself over to the police, authorities said.

Las Vegas police have arrested Malaysia King, 24, who faces charges of assault and battery, conspiracy, and violation of the health and safety code for attacking the driver on Sunday. Uber Subhakar Khadka, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Khadka recorded the incident and the video shows King, who is sitting in the back seat in a red robe, and another woman, identified by police as Arna Kimiai, 24, coughing and yelling profanity at him after refusing to wear face masks.

Kimiai has yet to be arrested, but her lawyers say she plans to surrender soon.

“We are happy to hear that Ms. Kimiai intends to do the right thing and come to the nearest police department, and we hope that will happen immediately ” Lt. Tracy McCray said in a statement.

“The behavior captured on video during this incident showed a ruthless disregard for the safety and well-being of an essential service worker amid a deadly pandemic. The incident occurred after Khadka picked up Kimiai, King and another woman in San Francisco around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

Khadka asked one of the women to wear a mask, but she refused, so she decided to cancel the trip.

An enraged Kimiai can then be seen shouting at the driver: “Damn the masks!”

At one point, Kimiai grabs Khadka’s phone in the center dash area, then violently rips off her mask, according to footage.

Police said the women also sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray inside Khadka’s car.

For this reason, Khadka was unable to continue working as a driver as removing pepper spray from the vehicle is an expensive and complex process that makes the car unsafe for passengers.

The virality of the video has prompted a GoFundMe campaign launched by an internet user that seeks to help the driver not only pay for repairs to his vehicle, but also support himself while he can return to work.

“Uber did not take care of this driver to help him with lost wages and cleanup due to pepper spray chemicals being sprayed on the fabric of his car. Instead, they started offering just $ 20 in compensation for coating their inner fabric with pepper spray.
