The President of Russia, Vladimir Poutine, said on Thursday that “I would break the teeth” of those who attack Russia, in a context of persistent tensions with Western countries.

“Everyone wants to bite us and take something from us. But those who try to do so must know that we are going to break their teeth so that they cannot bite us again ”Putin launched at a meeting with patriotic organizations.

In 2016, he joked that he said on television that “Russia’s borders stop nowhere”, after annexing the Ukrainian peninsula from Crimea and sending his army to support President Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

Relations between Russia and Western countries are going through one of their worst times, following several disagreements over the situation in Ukraine and Syria and amid accusations against Moscow of electoral interference, espionage and cyber attacks.

Russia, however, was satisfied on Thursday “Positive signs” in relations with the United States, after Washington has decided to waive the application of certain sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and after a “constructive” meeting of the heads of diplomacy of the two countries.
