This is not the first time that violent incidents have occurred in one of the busiest nightlife areas of the Catalan capital. Some fights between men, which usually take place in the middle of the morning, have even caused the death of some of them.

A fatal history

The Olympic Port area experienced fighting which ended tragically. On July 27, 2019, a skirmish ended with one dead and another slightly injured. The two victims were transferred to Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​but one of them – seriously injured – died soon after.

In January 2016, a 29 year old man lost his life after a fight at the Nirvana music bar in Barcelona’s Port Olímpic. The victim argued with other young people who stabbed him, which was fatal.

The doormen of the dance hall had notified the police after noticing that a group of people had gathered in a circle inside the dance floor, observing how the young man twisted on the ground and “lost a lot of blood”.

When the inspectors took him away from the scene, the victim was already unconscious and in very serious condition. The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) transferred the victim in critical condition at 3.34 a.m. to Hospital del Mar where he died shortly after.
