On this occasion, Banco Santander is launching 1,000 scholarships to promote professional English: what is it, who is it for, what are the requirements and how long can it be applied.

In collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania, with the aim of improving professional English for those who wish to advance their careers and improve their employability, the financial institution launches 1,000 scholarships for people over 18, non-native speakers of the English language, nationals or residents of 13 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, USA, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom and Uruguay.

Applicants must have a minimum level of English B1. This reference refers to the third level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which defines the different levels of a language established by the Council of Europe. In this one, the students they go beyond basic skills but are not yet able to work or study exclusively in English.

The training program will allow participants to choose between three courses depending on their professional goals:

• English for Career Development: With 400 places, this course is designed to help participants learn to face the selection and interview process in English, thus increasing their employability opportunities. In addition, it will give your students the opportunity to explore the career path they wish to develop while improving their vocabulary and English skills.
• English for Business and Entrepreneurship: With 300 scholarships, this course is for those interested in business and the global economy. Participants will learn English suitable for market research analysis, writing business plans, attracting investor attention and providing financial support, as well as exploring the practices of global entrepreneurship.
• English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics: 300 other places, so that the participants learn to use cause and effect language in English, write research strategies, analyze data from experiments. They will also use issues associated with climate change as a use case of scientific and technical language.

About the course

The course, 100% online, will be carried out via the UPenn online training platform

• Duration: 5 weeks.
• Time commitment per week: from 8 to 10 hours, with the support of a teacher.

• Offer individual activities (quizzes on articles and videos, knowledge through games or making your own recordings as practical exercises)

• Real-time group activities (conversations, comments and questions with teachers and colleagues on the tasks performed, which will sometimes be supervised by internationally renowned specialists).

• The course will start in January 2022It will last 5 weeks and will be taught by the UPenn English Programs Department.
