Every two years, in May, the Vinexpo fair takes place in Bordeaux. The prices of the international wine competition "The Citadels of Wine" are also awarded.
In this context, a cellar has received an important recognition: During a blind tasting, chosen among 1,000 wines from around the world, the 2015 Finca Coletto Malbec series from Trapiche Terroir was voted "Best Malbec in the competition"., thus receiving the maximum mention of the series.
As indicated in the cellar, "Trapiche Terroir Series Malbec" is a series of wines that express the richness of the diversity of our terroirs. Each year, the winemakers and agronomists select the three best malbec wines made from grapes from our independent producers' vineyards.
"It's a way to show our gratitude to those who give us their highest quality grapes and help give our wines an identity," they added.
It should be noted that Citadeles du Vin is one of the most prestigious international competitions. Its jury is composed mainly of high-level winemakers, who gather for several days to choose from more than 1000 samples of wines from more than forty countries worldwide.
Contest samples are anonymous and categorized. During a rigorous blind tasting, each sample is qualified according to strict and precise criteria: aromatic type, power, clarity, evolution. Award-winning wines are those that score the highest on a scale of 1 to 100.
