“What pact? So the level of the elderly ”: Chumel Torres against AMLO for feminist demonstrations

Criticism against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on the issue of feminism and the protests that reject the candidate for governor of Guerrero, Felix Salgado Macedonio. The Mexican YouTuber Chumel Torres confronted the president again for the statements he made Thursday morning at the conference at the National Palace.

The Mexican president said he didn’t know what they meant when they shouted at him “break the pact” in feminist protests, so he had to ask his wife Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller to understand the meaning of the expression “President, break the pact”.

On his official Twitter account, the comedian used the meaning of AMLO’s speech to make fun of his ignorance on feminist issues. Due to the age of the president and his obsolescence in certain concepts of social movements such as the “patriarchal pact”, Chumel wrote the following sentence:

“What pact? Rico Mac Pacto? The Lucas Pact? So the level of the elderly ”.

In a second publication, the program host The pulse of the Republic shared a video from the morning conference with the fragment where the executive representative accepts his ignorance of the topic and talks about breaking other types of “pacts” that have affected the country.

The video corresponds to an edition of the official transmission, with a touch of humor and sarcasm the cries of ducks are heard every time Andrés Manuel calls the other “pacts” the “pact for Mexico” or the “pact of silence”.

The reaction Chumel Torres shared from that video was the following sentence: “I told them I didn’t even know what kindness God is talking about”. His post wrote it in all caps to show his disapproval and annoyance.

The president’s speech took place against the backdrop of protests in Iguala, Guerrero, on February 24. Feminist contingents came to the flag museum where Obrador was leading a civic ceremony, there, the women demonstrating peacefully shouted slogans at the president, among which sounded “President, break the pact”.

When the various demonstrations against Félix Salgado and the request of the Head of State to respond to the call to break the “pact” which protected the candidate from accusations of rape, Chumel wrote on his Twitter account that López Obrador did not break the “pact” because he does not know the meaning.

The YouTuber has been a constant critic of the actions of the federal government, since the party National Regeneration Movement (Morena) announced that Felix Salgado Macedonio He would be the candidate for a public office in Guerrero, he shared his opinion on social networks.

The first statements AMLO made about Salgado and defended his candidacy, Chumel went so far as to say that the action was “disgusting” that Mexican society could not tolerate.
