Pope Francis assured that when a pope is sick, “there is a breeze or a hurricane of conclave”, in an interview with the COPE network and that it will be broadcast in full on September 1.

In dialogue with journalist Carlos Herrera and when asked about his health, the Holy Father jokes and replies that “I am still alive”.

Regarding rumors of a possible resignation, Pope Francis said in the interview that “every time a Pope is sick, there is a breeze or a hurricane of conclave”.

Pope Francis also said that during a recent colon surgery, “he saved my life, a man with a lot of experience. This is the second time in my life that a nurse has saved my life. The first time was in the year 57 ”.

The Pope mentioned the operation to which he was successfully subjected on July 4, due to the diverticular stenosis that afflicted him.

Stenosis is a narrowing in a canal of the body, in this case the colon, and diverticula are small sacs that swell in the colon or large intestine, a condition that might require surgery, as has happened with the pope who will be 85 in December. 17.

In December 2020 the book “Let’s Dream Together” appeared, in which Pope Francis recounted some details of the operation he had undergone in August 1957, when he was 21 years old, during which the upper lobe of his right lung had been removed.

Regarding what happened to him on this occasion, when he was very serious and had to withdraw a liter and a half of water from his lung, the Pope remembers two nurses, in particular Sister Cornelia Caraglio.
